Historic home built in 1894 by Fred Schimelpfenig and his wife, Louise Ernestine Rammers Schimelpfenig, two of the early Plano settlers moving here in 1878. Fred was active in church and civic circles and was mayor of Plano from 1902-1908, and the owner/operator of a lumber company, and a dry goods store. Louise was also active in church work as well as the temperance movement. She operated the first Plano lending library out of her home by lending books to girls in the community. In 1980, both Fred and Louise were honored by the city of Plano: Schimelpfenig Middle School was built and named for Fred, and the L. E. R. Schimelpfenig Public Library was named for Louise.
